EyeOn shared in a previous article data that confirms that companies are decisively taking steps towards increasing the automation of their planning processes, ultimately with the hope to move to no-touch planning processes.
During our last network session we shared how to successfully reach no-touch planning. In summary, you need different building blocks to change to demand, inventory, supply, and S&OP processes. These blocks are:
- Excellent data
- Application enabled
- High quality analytics
- Organizational readiness
- Decision focused culture
During the event we shared practical examples of how to make progress in these different areas. Although all the areas are needed, that does not necessarily mean that all areas will receive equal amount of focus from companies. When 23 business leaders were asked how would they spread their efforts over the next 2 years amongst the different building blocks, from the total of 100%, “Excellent data” received the highest score with respondents allocating 28% of their efforts on average.
The score is a reflection of the value that business leaders see in improving data quality across their organisations. 83% of respondents agree with the statement that “Data engineering could reduce their planning workload by 50%!”.
